Bulging eye

Hi all!

I have a 4 months old female pygmy cham and sometimes it look like one of her eye bulges a little. It seems bigger than the other, but a few minutes later it turns back to normal... everything else about the eyes seems normal, movement, coloration, size...

Is this normal?

Thnx!

I'm no expert, but I can tell you one of our veiled chams has done this several times (even in his sleep late at night- totally freaked me out), and also we observed one of our pygmy chams doing it. Don't know if it has to do with cleaning, or with bilge adjustment. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it has to do with a type of muscle spasm. Perhaps it is an occasional side effect of their normal self maintenance.

Yes,
This is normal.

Chams will fllush out/wash their eyes.

Since your cham's eye goes back to normal is probably natural. Just make sure the humidity is high enough and he is getting appropriately misted.
