Cage size for young chameleon

Hi

Rather ask a question before starting a project then be caught.

In the next couple months I will hopefully be getting a pair of Panther chameleons. I am trying to avoid the need for multiple cages. I am going to build the cages. My idea for the starting cage measurements is 23in x20in x30in tall. Will construct to keep bottom as empty as possible. Arrange with hiding spots, but not overly dense. Plan is to slowly add structure as they grow/ get comfortable. I plan to cup feed. Is this workable.

Each chameleon will have separate cages.
I'm guessing the chameleons will be about 2 months old when I get them.

Thanks for any responses

One thing I have to say is that from experience your chams will grow quick. If you make the cages that small then in half a year you will need to upgrade to maybe as much as 30, 30, 36. It would be a real pain to make new ones so soon. Also seal the wood with water proof sealant to protect from water misting, but, make sure it is safe for your cham.

Although a big cage might be a little roomy, it will save lots of money and work.

When they're young, it's actually better to be dense so they have plenty of places to hide, especially with Panthers. They'll appreciate it and get more comfortable in their cage quicker.
