Hello everyone, I see so many different DIY cages here. Do you make your out side cages different from your indoor cages? I see alot of cages with the backs & bottoms closed in. No screen at all. I ask this because i am building out side cages. I thought the main idea was to get as mush air circulation as possible? But i might be wrong!! The biggest thing i need to ask is, Should i close in the backs of the cages??? I live in FL, and my chameleons will be out in my FL room most of the year. it is a great state to have them in. We all ready have so many wild chameleons, frogs, snakes, birds, gecos, reptiles, and so on here. Thanks again for your time, Harleyc

beef them up

Outdoor cages have to have heavier walls to protect you chams from predators like cats, crows, and snakes. I have big problems keeping curious cats away from the cages when the chameleons are outside.

I do completely agree with this as I had rats eating into Reptariums on my lanai. However, with 90-100 degree heat in the summer you have to have airflow.

Thank you so much for this info. I am going to take off my screen and add the strong stuff!!! I will never leave them out side over night. The cages are on wheels so They will go gack in my FL, room to stay safe and i will wheel them back out in the morning for some sunshine. with shad block on top!!!
