Calcium dust w/ or without D3?

Hi, I'm planning on getting a veiled chameleon and I have a few questions concerning D3.

I am going to us a Reptisun compact UVB bulb 5.0 for lighting, and my insects shall be a mix of crickets, mealworms, superworms, and butterworms. As for gut loading, I'll be using carrots, zuccini, collared greens, dandelions and spinach, though not all at the same time. My question is whether I should use calcium with D3 or calcium without D3, considering my lighting choice and gut load food. Thanks.

hey :D i would use calcium without D3 almost every day, and then calcium with D3 about two to three times a month, and then dont forget to use a multivitamin like Rep-Cal Herptivite that contains Beta Carotene once a month :D

If you take your chameleon outside for a couple of hours you don't need calcium with D3 and if you don't take your chameleon outside you will need the calcium with D3, make sense.:)

You will want both, unless your chameleon will get outdoors sunlight every day. Use the plain calcium mostly, with the D3 one less often (how often depends on the brand you buy).
Also, you may want to exclude spinnach from the gutload.

Thanks y'all! I've been caring for reptiles, mostly snakes for two years now and I can't help but laugh at all the little details that go into chameleons, but to me it's such a rich experience...

You said..."Reptisun compact UVB bulb 5.0"...some of the compact bulbs cause problems. The most recommended UVB light is the long linear fluorescent Repti-sun 5.0.

how many days should u dust ur crickets? Some one on here say dust them every day?

Every cricket should be dusted (just a little)
so if you use crickets every day, yes you'd use calcium every day.
