The photos I've posted on this forum were all taken with an iPhone 6. My good camera is a Canon digital SLR and I normally have a 75-300mm zoom on it, so I can't hold my cham and take a pic at the same time.
Now that my cham has a larger enclosure, I'll try the Canon and see what I get.

Okay. Back with a couple comparison photos. The enclosure is next to an Eastern-facing window in the morning, so it wasn't the easiest shot looking into the sun. I'll try some outdoor shots another time comparing the cameras.
First is the Canon camera:

You can't beat today's smartphone cameras for spontaneity. It's always handy and most of them can take a very good photo. If I'm looking to take a portrait quality photo, and expect to take some time setting up the subject, background and lighting, I will use my Canon. I used to take photos professionally, but now that seemingly everyone with a halfway decent digital camera has gone into 'business,' I've gone back to being just a hobby photographer and doing it for fun. I traded off a much better, heavier camera for the little, lightweight 100D to make it easer to lug around with the lenses.
