does anyone know if chameleons can soak water through their skin. is that why we spray them?. i know we spray the plants for humidity and for lapping off the plants.

Yes, they also absorb moisture through the skin. It is not the primary method of "drinking" but it helps in the hydration process.

I see my Parsonii take fog (mist) through the mouth he just sits there with his mouth open. And no he doesn't have upper respiratory infection.

This brings up an issue that I’ve always been confused about. Why is it generally recommended NOT to directly spray chameleons? Wouldn’t this be beneficial for them?

The sudden drop of temperature for one also most people aren't aware of the chameleons eyeballs its like getting poked in the eye. I mist with warm water and first spray the enclosure to give them fare warning then I hit the chameleon.
