shaboogie-

tobramycin ophthalmic solution is an excellent antibiotic for gram negative bacteria in general, which is the most common type of bacteria that reptiles get infected with. but if it doesn't look any better, either it's not the right antibiotic and you need to switch and maybe culture the eye, or the problem is more than just a bacterial conjunctivitis i.e. pink eye.

I tend to use ointments over drops since they are much easier to apply, and it (literally) sticks around for much longer than a drop. since you have posted that you have had some trouble getting drops in, if you switch or even if you stay with Tobramycin an ointment might be much more effective. if there's still something else that's going on, you have the best feel for how comfortable your vet was. I know it's already been financially hard on you, so I'm not quite sure what's the best advice other than the things that I've written here.

well, i certainly agree that you need to call the doctor and let them know there has not been any improvement—any doctor in any field is going to assume that whatever they have done for a case has worked if they don’t hear back from the patient/owners; my hospital would have called you within a few days after the appointment to check up on him. at the worst recheck exams typically are less expensive than initial exams, but your mileage may vary. they may just switch medications and ask you to pick it up, or they may want to see him again. you certainly have the right to let them know that your funds are extremely limited right now, we’re used to that!

however, there are rarely if ever any guarantees in medicine; if you were sick and not getting better, it’s not like your doctor would waive all charges for further tests, exams, procedures or medications.
