I’m not an expert but looks like you don’t have much foliage in the enclosure, fake plants are not recommend at all (especially for a veiled) as well as the fake moss.. can you post pictures of the enclosure and fill out the form?

Is his tongue stuck sticking out? If so, no, that is not normal. If it hasn’t yet gone back inside on it’s own, you need to take him to a vet as soon as possible. While my knowledge is limited, I believe it could become necrotic (dead) if left untended. While there’s a few things that could have caused that, I’m going to guess that a major contributing factor is an error in husbandry. There is no fake moss in his enclosure just the mossy vine. I have a mixture of both fake and live plants in his enclosure. I have more plants on the other side i have to get a new one for this side because it died. But yes his tongue went back in, he hasn’t done it since.

Im using a Zoomed T8 strip uvb light. And a 150 watt heat bulb

Glad the tongue went back in. I would suggest having a husbandry review...make sure all is correct for your little guy. While a T8 can be used, a T5 is preferred as it gives better range of uvb. 150w bulb is extremely high. What are basking temps?

The basking temp is at an 85-90 degree range and okay I’ll switch to the T5 thank you. And I will most certainly do the husbandry review

I was using a 100 watt but it’s been really cold in my state lately and I noticed a major heat decline in his enclosure and that bulb was the next up

Welcome to the forum, but please get rid of the fake plants and vines. Epipremnum aureum and Tradescantia zebrina are both relatively fast-growing vine plants, and staples in many enclosures.

Branch tasting is a weird but normal behavior. Tongue remaining sticking out is not.

My panther had the same going on with his tongue. I would make a vet appt. Asap. Mine was diagnosed with mbd. Thanks to the great advice that I received here (supplements and husbandry) my boy is doing great and the mbd was caught early. He is now doing great and tongue problem was fixed.

That’s just a bit too warm. The highest it should really be is about 85*.

Thank you so much, I believe it was a one time thing he hasn’t done it since that one time. When i first bought him i took him to the vet for a fecal test and he was diagnosed with MBD and tail rot. So they amputated his tail and treated him, I’ve been giving him extra calcium, vitamins, and making sure he has great gutload. I also went to Home Depot to get some more live plants.
