Can you help me identify this butterfly?

This butterfly/moth is on the inside of my screened in porch and was wondering if anyone knows what species he is? Maybe a moth, Google didn't turn up anything at all. He's all black with those white spots.

Reminds me of the white striped black moth (Trichodezia albovittata) are you sure it's a butterfly? I can't really tell from your pic. Where are you located?

Knew I forgot to add something.. I'm in the western North Carolina mountains. I think butterfly because of the way he moves his wings when he's stationary.

IDK your right smack in the middle of the white striped black moths range I'm not sure of any butterflies that look like that in your area do you have another pic? I'll see if I can find a pic of white stripes

After looking again, I'm 95% sure that you're right. Is it safe to feed to my cham ? He's still settling in and not eating much..

I wouldn't feed wild caught moths they don't really have much nutritional value to add to you cham and could deliver a parasite to it. The white striped black moths caterpillars feed on Impatiens i'm not sure if that would be poisonous but I think it might be since impatiens can be use as a natural anti-inflammatory so just to be safe I would not risk feeding to my chameleon. Then again I don't know all that much about proper feeding their may be others better suited to answer this on here.

The black on white color scheme is what made me question it. I'll pass on it, got some variety bugs coming this week.
