Carrots

Yesterday I blended up some carrots and mixed it up with a little water to get it real slushy and placed about three tablespoons into the roach container and the devoured it. It is completely gone. They went crazy for it. Is it ok for them to eat carrots like this? The crickets never ate the carrots slices so I wanted to try and blend it up for them. A good source of moisture right? What can I feed the dubia to get them growing faster and to reproduce?

Some have questioned carrots as a gutload, since they have a high sugar content. I use them all the time, but not as a "gutload", but as a part of the diet of the insects.

I do not gutload my insects, as in starve them, and then gutload them with a massive amount of a high quality diet. Instead, I just keep them on an inconsistent diet that varies every day. Used like that, carrots are fine. I throw some in with my crickets when I have spare carrots, or when I'm going away for a few days - they retian moisture a long itme, and keep the crickets alive very nicely.

I imagine all things in moderation are fine. I do use carrot once or twice a week, often using potato the rest of the time. Maybe some raw potato added to the mix might be prudent.

I use carrots for the cricket diet as well. About 2 times per week ill use the peeler and shave a bunch of thin slices off the carrot.
