Cham eats a... fish?

veileds are particularly greedy, but yes they will eat fish, i was thinking about doing it but was advised against it because of parasites and worms.

pinkies might be a slightly safer route??

I would wonder if this was bad for them just because in nature I wouldn't imagine they'd have much opportunity to go fishing, since they stay mostly in the trees. I suppose it could be possible if they were on a low hanging branch, over the bank of a stream?

Thats horrible!!!

If you thought the fish was cool, check this one out.
The chameleon is struggling to hold himself up from the weight of his catch.

THAT GUY IS DEFINITELY A UNRESPONSIBLE CHAMELEON OWNER:mad:!! IF ANYTHING THEY SHOULD FEED IT A PINKIE MOUSE ONCE IN AWHILE AS THEY ARE SMALL AND GET GULPED DOWN EASIER!! THATS MY 2 CENTS!! THANKS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

I think it is very possible they might go fishing from time to time. They do not allways stay in trees check this out I pulled this up from a old thread on here. About swimming chameleons. Make sure you scroll all the way down the page.

Ya that is a really big mouse i have only feed mine a pinky and he was full grown and i still thought that was to big but hope that guy passes it.

Well I don't think my cham will ever be big enough to feed a live mouse too, but that mouse looked like it was dead after two chomps to me.... I mean that's a pretty big cham chomping directly on its head.

This is interesting stuff though. I didn't think they'd be able to go fishing in the wild either. I mean, how would their tongue perform through water? I definately need to read that thing about swimming chams though.

darn... no kidding... well the pics are there to prove it though, and what a beautiful cham that person has, nevermind the fact that its swimming...

I had no idea a chameleon could swim. Thanks for the link Champhibians.

i know, if only it were in english

Its in Dutch - Google has a simple translator that works reasonably well.

Here are some pictures of swimming this summer.

Here swim in our pond.

Our pond is 1.70 meters deep and consists of 2 parts running into each other.
He swims fast on this and this at a record pace.
The pond is about 4 meters width and it takes just seconds to complete.

Here are some photos in action.

Chameleon sucks the air is full of drive and remains so.
He uses the style of a crocodile swimming the abdomen where a left-right movement makes.
The 2 front legs on and go fast again.

As a last wish I would strongly warn everyone that this phenomenon is not obvious in your Chameleon.
When this happened it was loose in a heatwave, so only a few days above 30? C and the pond water for several days warmed up.
Please do not immediately your entire meute Chameleon in your pond or tub to dump to see if that can swim.

Our Ambanja Blue is now 1 year old and doing very well and is very good at color.
