Cham very dark and at bottom of cage?

My chameleon has been at the bottom of the cage a lot recently. and he turns a SUPER dark color when he's there... is it because he's too hot?

He also has his mouth open a lot today... I haven't noticed him doing that at all until now.

I'm getting an A/C unit today... hopefully that'll make it cooler in my room so I can actually use his lighting fixtures correctly. Right now the whole cage is at 80F.
