Chameleon and pest control

I'm a college student with a pet chameleon and while I was in class earlier, much to my horror, I revived a messaged from my apartment complex saying that the pest control guy would be entering my building to spray today. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to have a bit long than a one hour notice before things like this. My friend was able to collect my Chameleon before my apartment was sprayed but now my question is how long do I need to wait to return him to his cage ? Because of the short notice I wasn't able to cover her cage or take any of the precautions I would have with proper notice. My Chameleon is currently in his transport box which is just a cardboard box with holes and paper towels.

It would help to know what they used? and where?
No, I wish I did. Nobody was home when they sprayed. I have a large closet where my Chameleons cage is that is not supposed to be entered by the apartment staff but we are also suppose to get 24 hour notice before anyone enters the apartment sooo

I’m having the same issue, with notice and an eviction letter because I asked so many times to speak to the exterminator first. When he arrived last time I met him at the door to my room and he had his “ghost-buster backpack” of poison on him and refused to enter my room with it because he said it will definitely kill Fred, my 6-month-old chameleon. I will get evicted if I don’t let them spray my room. I might be able to bring him to a friend’s house for a little while yet I don’t know how long because the bug man said the poison is airborne, which is all the info he gave me. I asked what to do and he said to research it myself. I have tried so many times to get more information with new avail. Plus Fred has free roam of my room and I built an entire rainforest canopy on my ceiling for him. I imagine I should definitely take that down. I already got fined $100 for not being ready for the exterminator twice. Can anyone give me some advice?

Thank you!!!

It should be fine... The pesticides target invertebrates specifically. As long as he didn't spray your feeder insects I wouldn't worry about it imo.

Thanks for your reply. To play it safe I removed Fred, everything associated with him, including his feeder crickets to my friend’s house for a week from the time my place was sprayed. Two days after bringing him home he developed an eye infection and I brought him to my vet because we have no chameleon specialists in the ski town I live in (Steamboat Springs, CO). The closest “expert” is 3-4 hours away. After returning, all of his 100+ crickets died despite being kept in a large Tupperware bin where I cut out half the top and put screening over it so they can breath - toxic fumes…

My vet treated his eye with antibiotic eye drops and was texting her colleague in L.A. the whole time Fred was there. She now wants me to bring him down to Denver or to the vet school in Fort Collins. I’m positive it was the pesticide that made him sick and even though his eye has greatly improved (he couldn’t even see out of his right eye), he still is not himself. His appetite decreased and I have to bring him to his “watering thing” he always drinks out of. He’s only 7 months old as well.

My fear is that this was continue even after I have him checked out.

Has anyone had this experience, and does anyone know how I can deal with and hopefully eradicate the residual poison? I have been vacuuming, cleaning, leaving my window open, all the fans going, etc.

All I can think of doing is calling the extermination company my apartment complex hired, hopefully who can help me with this.

What are people’s thoughts on this situation?

Thank you sooo much!
