Chameleon biting fake vines

Right before I went to mist my 10 week old panther he decided to bend his head down and bite one of his fake vines. He didn't injest anything, but this is the second time I've seen him do this. Could it be from lack of giving a multivitamin? I would rather vary his diet and take him outside on nice days for natural light instead of using a powder. If I have too though, I will.

Not sure why panthers do this but they do. I would advise you use something for branches that won't be harmful to him if he bites them.

Do you feed/gutload the insects you feed him properly?
Do you dust with calcium?

Didn't even need to read the post body before I knew it was a panther. They just do it. It will eventually stop.

I dust with calcium for his morning feed amd that's the only time I can get him to eat anything that's dusted. I gut load all of my feeders with fluckers dry gut load and give veggies for water. The only thing is right now I only have a compact UVB bulb. He can get within six inches and he often basks directly under it.

That's so strange! When I saw him doing it I was like Hey! Knock it off! :D he stopped and looked at me like I was a fool. It almost makes me think they are teething! :p

No disrespect to kinyongia, I don't believe that 99.9999999% of all panther chameleons suffer from lack of supplements. I have said teething a million times. Look at all those teeth, and they grow so quick. Who knows. I breed BB Ambilobes, Nosy Be, Ambanja and Nosy Faly. They ALL do it. I have suplemented tested and it makes no difference. He will stop. I had one who chewed so loud, i couldn't hear my tv. Had to move him to another room. :D

My Jax gnaws on one particular branch occasionally. Teething? Nutritional deficiency? Just being a jerk? Not sure. It comes and goes. He doesn't hurt himself, so I try not to worry about it. Just be sure you are gutloading at an extremely high quality level if you want to minimize supplements. Don't be closed minded in the future if you need to change your plan with multivitamins. It's a difficult balance.

my 6 month old i seen trying to chew on a pot i had in his enclosure, seen him chewing on branches and nearly a month ago was going off chewing on the rock base of one of his perches. scared the s**t out of me that he would hurt himself

my panther does the same thing.... he'll be walking along and just stop and all in a quick move just chomp on the branch, he quits and moves on.... Weirdo ;)

At around age one year old, one day you will notice all of a sudden, how come so and so doesn't chew on the leaves anymore. :)
