chameleon coughing

is there such thing as stress induced cough?

cause he only cough when i handled him, when he see big crickets, and lately due to his small cage (once i put him out, he's as green as a grass and mellow out).. he did this when he's a baby; but not as often as now.

I'm getting a 2nd hand large cage tomorrow from Mr. Weldon (at least till my custom cage is made).

(no wheezing sound.. just a jerk movement that looks like someone coughing).
no hard breathing during sleeping, no extra mucus in the mouth, no whining sound. Eating is fine.. he closed his eyes once in a while for no longer than 5 seconds.

Thank for your insight

its a cough and there not much air moving like a human that got bad lung desease after a while less and less air moves when they cough so its a dry drowning cough. i heard it a few times in my life.but your veiled could just have a cold.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean by shudders but let me ask a quick question while i'm here. My chameleon will move his hand forward then back then forward then back...this only happens on occasion and it's only for a few seconds. Is there something wrong with him or is he just being a wierd little guy?

Ha!
He's being a chameleon. They are very deliberate in their movement, and some of the repeated movements they do simulate the movement of leaves in the trees and is actually part of their camoflauge/defense.
There is a sort of shaky "leaves blowing in the wind" walk that they do too!

i've read the thread... no.. it's not a shudder.
I wonder how can i describe it accurately.
it's more like someone who blow their nose in short succession. (although he just did it no more than twice.
and it ONLY happened when he's angry (during handling, during the sight of big insects or caterpillar. He did it again when he saw silk moths.)

But no wheezing, no "achoo", and no signs of URI that i know of.
I hope it's just nothing.. Yesterday i bring him to the vet... apart from irritation in his eyes (from debris or dirt), he is fine.

He closes his eyes 2 days ago.. after my vet gave him saline solution, he's back opening his eyes again.
