Chameleon Diet

I have a 4.5-5 month old panther, and he used to eat crickets and dubias. I fed him soldier fly larvae last week, and he wont eat anything else now. Can I continue feeding him mainly soldier fly larvae or is that not a healthy diet?

I don't recommend giving to any sort of cham addiction, because I don't think they should have a diet of anything less than six feeders regularly in a week. But that's just me.

I agree, but he wont feed on anything else for about a week . He went two days without eating, when I gave him roaches and crickets. After two days, i gave in and started feeding larvae again.

His size likely can easily got 2 weeks without eating, he knows you will likely break before him and he's waiting you out. Unless he is losing weight I honestly wouldn't worry.

Never had the problem so I'm wondering... would offering him something else that would be tempting work? Adult soldier flies perhaps? Something green is said to work like stick bugs , locus or green roaches. The green roaches might be a segway back to your regular roaches.

I see it happen more with adults. But it does sometimes happen with younger ones. I have never personally had it happen, but plenty of people have experienced it. I usually find it happens most when their feeder lists are too limited or their are fed fattier insects too often. But a lot of people can't commercially raised species other than 3-4. And for some reason a lot of people are terrified of feeding wild caught insects.
