Hey...I have many reptiles and have decided i would like a chameleon. I have a tank in my house 3 ft long buy 2 ft wide by 5 ft high which i am planning to use once he is fully grown. I have lined the inside of the tank with green plastic bin bags which have been neatly cut to fit all sides of the tank to prevent the wood rotting from the high humidity which the chameleon requires. All i wud like to know is that is it ok 2 use plastic bin bags or would they be harmful to the chameleon e.g. toxic?????

I would not use plastic bags in your cage / tank. Also you need to get a bigger cage, (way bigger) they need room. Also dont use waterfalls becasue they tend to casue harm to chams becasue ti causes bacteria to grow. are you using a cage or glass tank?

If you have the money i would definetly sell that tank and get a screen one. they are way better by offering more air flow which is vital for chameleons

I agree with ken. lllreptile.com has good stuff

if it is a baby cham, you can keep it in a glass tank with no problem but once it grows and get older you WILL need to get a screen enclosure for more air flow. Adults dont like the glass because the reflection stresses them out and they dont get enough air flowing around which they REALLY need but reflection doesnt effect the baby chams at all.

What kind of chameleon do you have? I have a veiled and they are one of the biggest chameleons and all they need is a 2x2x4 so that cage would be perfect for your chameleon.

yes you can put a baby in a glass tank to monitor its feeding but in order to give a chameleon the best possible chances you should raise it in a screen cage

I had baby jacksons in a exo tera (glass enclosure) the babies hated it. They would always paw. Also, i no some chams dont need air flow, but most do even babies should have fresh air.

i have a baby cham and he doesnt seem to mind the glass to much but i am moving him to a screen enclosured cage i built a few days ago just incase he does need more air flow
