Chameleon may be laying eggs! what to do?

My veiled chameleon may be getting ready to lay eggs but i'm not entirely sure. What are the signs that she is about to lay?
But if she does, what do I do? because I don't have what she will need. :(
The cage has a carpet- like flooring in the bottom and there is a water bowl with a plant above it that has a dripper above it so the water drips down the plant and into the bowl. She has a large vine that goes around the cage so she can literally get anywhere in the cage just by the vine. There is another plant hanging that she lounges on under her basking light with a branch under it that she can crawl up to reach. IF she is about to lay eggs, what do I do because I don't have the things she would need to lay eggs. And to be sure, how can I tell she is about to lay?

A good sign that she is about to lay is. She will be close to the ground or crawling around on the ground.

Please post photos of your two chameleons so we can see what sex they are and what species. Also...please don't make separate threads for the same chameleon that is having problems. It makes it hard for us to follow.

One female of mine is a recent import and is a wild caught. She looks like she's laid a few clutches in the wild. She's laid two clutches for me. I could tell she was ready to lay because her vent went flaccid and she "dropped" over her loins.

The second female, also a recent wild-caught import, became very restless and climbed the screen for a few days. This is her first clutch. She did not spend time at the bottom, but was climbing up and down for two days. She wasn't a very big thing and did not get big so I wasn't expecting so many eggs (she had a good sized clutch for her species). She also "dropped"over her loins very close to laying, so much so I couldn't tell she still had any eggs in her and I went through the laying box looking for eggs.

Both lost a gram or two in the days before laying and didn't eat as much in the week before laying.

I think your set could use a little change. You shouldn't be using anything on the bottom of the cage and they don't need a water bowl. Unless you are only using that to collect the water but then I would think you would need to empty that at least twice a day.

Then for laying the eggs you need a laying bin for her. Even if you think its possible get a laying bin in the cage. Look for some of Jannb's posts on the subject. She has a great blog.
