Chameleon Quirks

Vladislav has recently stopped firing up every time he sees my roommate, which is awesome. However, he hates mornings and puffs up and hisses at me every single morning, without fail. Give him time to wake up and he is the happy-go-lucky boy I know and love, but for the first hour or so he is a swaying, hissing, puffing moody monster. It makes me laugh every time because he is normally extremely good natured.

Alternately, today I showed him a mirror for the first time (I wanted to get a photo of him fired up and mornings are too tightly scheduled for a photo shoot) and he could not have cared less. He looked at it for a second or two, then completely ignored it and went back to begging for silkworms. Maybe he isn't old enough yet to care about "other" male chameleons. Mornings are a huge nope, but mirrors are meh.

Do your chams have any strange//quirky likes and dislikes?

Gus one of my male ambilobe's hates people in general but can recognize a fly or hornworm from across the room and is Mr. Social until he's full or I open the next cage. As soon as food is off the table he fires up, hisses, open mouth head slaps and puts on quite the show. The other 4 have all gotten used to me taking them outside for sun time or to use the indoor free range, not Gus. A trip outside seems to be more stressful than beneficial for him, odd thing is he's the only one I got really small right around 3 months, hoping he mellows out some more and eventually the food association wins him over. He's also extremely active during the day, always on the go which makes me think he will really enjoy the free range if he does calm down in the future.

Zaphod will actually sit at the front of the enclosure and watch TV with me. He enjoys sports (especially football and hockey) and is generally up for an action movie. He does not have much use for the news channels, but he does like certain Animal Planet shows.

I would try gutloading with coffee beans and see if that would help. I can relate to not liking mornings .
