i was just reading a very interesting artical about how f. paradalis mates in the wild. one thing that threw me off was when they were talking about the distances in which they live from one another, and my question is

how does the male find the female
or how does the female find the male?

does she come into his territory?

if so, what senses besides vision does she use to find such a solitary hidden creature that is hard to see and very far away?

or maybe its liek cue the music : in the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeeps tonighttttt

but seriously does anyone have any more info on this

thats a good question i think they run into eachother but that would be neat if someone had a better perspective on this topic.

I believe during their rainy season...Dec. through April both males and females get very active and venture into different areas. This is why many wc come in with parasites during this time of year, they are roaming and picking up many new parasites.

I don't know about panthers but I've read that in the wild, a single male veiled is often in the upper parts of a tree with several breeding age females and immature males in the lower parts of the tree.

How far are you from the wild veileds in FL? I think their in the ft. meyers area. The ones I've seen online, like on lost lake chameleons are stunning and HUGE. Looks like they could rip an arm off if you got to close to them.
