Constantly sleeping is an indicator for a sick cham,I would take him to a chameleon specialist vet n get a check up.
Was he sleep under the basking light or in the lower cage?
Left eye is definitely bothering him.

He is sleeping anywhere including under basking light.

YES I'm sorry I forgot to mention that. He is doing it. Only his left eye though. Sorry I left that crucial information out.
Dont be sorry,I just like to analyze the whole thing, lol.
I will suggest lightly mist his left eye with lukewarm water to see if that can clean out anything in there that bothers him,if the eye still shut after the mist, then I will definitely take him to see a chameleon specialist vet,so the vet can take a look on that problem left eye, hopefully the mist will do the trick.

Like alphakenc said, try to flush out the closed eye with warm water. Is there any swelling? And is there any discharge coming out of the eye? I've heard oral syringes can help take out whatever is in there but that sounds pretty dangerous so i wouldn't do it personally. I found this page on eye infections but i dont think your chams eye has gotten that bad https://www.cuteness.com/article/care-chameleons-eye-infection[

It's not swelling, he is just sleeping and itching left eye.
