Chameleons and pregnancy

I have always loved Chameleons and having recently moved from Australia to Canada have discovered to my delight that i could possibly care for one. i have been researching the verious requirements for caring for one propperly and was told that if my wife was to fall pregnant that being around lizards is a health risk to the baby. I was wondering if any one had heard of such a thing or is it BS. My Chameleon dream hinges on the answer.

I don't have an answer. I have wondered this too. I love reptiles and my cham, but wonder how it will affect fetus. I have heard that handling reptiles (while pregers) might be bad because of salmonilla. I have also heard that preg-o women shouldn't change kitty litter boxes.

I would think it would be fine if you took care of it and took precautions (i.e., not letting it free roam in commonly shared places or places your baby will crawl around.)

Let me know if you come across anything.

Thanks, Justin! Pretty gross thinking/reading about parasites, but a good wake up call for thorough cleaning, handwashing, and regular fecal checks.
