chameleons greenhouse

Good morning everyone!
I would like to ask you some informations about this "greenhouses", because I know what is it, but I don't know how to make it and how it works, for example, in my town in this season there are around 12/15°C during the day and around 5°C during the night. During the winter there will be 0/5°C during the day and during the night the temperature will go below 0°C. Can you tell me if these temperatures are too low for my xantholophus which would be in the greenhouse if I make it? I've seen lots of photos, and I think that it can be for me very good solution for my chams...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but greenhouses are not good environments for animals; the temperature swings are extreme. I would not consider it without advanced automated controls. These are complex and expensive. Because the greenhouse glazing blocks the needed UV rays, you will still need lights to provide the necessary light.
All in all, keeping chameleons in the house is much easier.

If done properly a greenhouse can be a great place to keep chameleons. However as David stated they require a thermostat plus a heating and cooling source to control the temperature swings and the UV requirement problems have got to be addressed. There are UV greenhouse coverings that allow UVA and UVB rays through that are ideal for greenhouses that is meant for reptiles/chameleons. It is a great although expensive way to get the reptiles and feeder insects out of the main house. However I would only consider a greenhouses if you are an experienced/obsessed chameleon keeper.

you could simplify it if you commit, actually you could do everything manually, put it some heater inside and uv tubes that you turn on and off when necessary, but then you need to check the temp every day and turn on off the heat when needed

Chamalot Chameleons had 26 of her chameleons stolen from her greenhouse. Unfortunately, security would be a major concern if kept outside.

My greenhouse has got a solid door with a lock on it plus a wall that is difficult at best to cut through to gain access to the chameleons inside. As well we had 4 guard dogs to guard the greenhouse when the greenhouse was located out on the ranch even though it was close to the house. Knock on wood however I have never had any problems with uninvited guests with my greenhouse during the 10+ years I have owned the greenhouse.

Chance prefers the prepared. I account for as much as possible and it has worked out okay. I definitely have not allowed people who are suspect around any of my collections. That has worked out for me for the last 10 years.

In the more urban areas, that is indeed a concern. Budget in some highly visible cameras and guard dogs would be my suggestion.

I would go with 4 Rottweilers that should solve the problem.
