Cleaning

Hey guys how is everything going?

As everybody knows I'm pretty new at the Chameleon world. That being sad I want to know how and how often you guys cleans your moody little buddies.

Thank You

Like most keepers here, I use a bare bottom enclosure so clean up is easy. paper towels, alittle dish soap and clean all the droppings and flakes of shed skin then wipe clean with just a damp paper towel. If there are dropping stuck in my chams plants I just remove them from the cage and wipe the leaves clean.

I found that if I ignore my cham and not make eye contact, just glance over now and then to see where he is, the whole process is less stressful for him. If I absolutely have to remove him, I'll either have my girlfriend take him out (since he trusts her and wont let me near him), or I use a spare branch and get him to climb on that so I can move him to his free range.

I dont clean, I'll pick up poop off leaves, or just pluck the leaf, but that's about it. I'll wipe stuff off with vinegar occasionally. I use substrate though so it's a little different maintenance than barebottom.

I do a weekly wipe down cleaning. I move mine to outdoor cages and wipe down the bottom and any pooped on leaves with rubbing alcohol. I let dry completely before bringing them back in. If the weather is bad I just use water and don't make much eye contact like some big harmless mammal that likes picking dead leaves.
