Cocooning silkworm moths

Hi guys, I have some large silkworms and I was wondering how to cocoon them? I know that they do it naturally but should I use egg crates so that they don’t get entangled?

I used toilet paper rolls. cut them in half so they are not as long. But I found it worked pretty well and most cocooned in the rolls.

I tried egg crate my last time around and had really poor results. I suspect as they expelled their stomach contents before spinning, the egg crate absorbed it and besides creating high humidity, grew bacteria.

I usually use egg crates without too much problem then use toilet paper rolls cut in half to contain mating pairs so they don't scatter eggs around.

Paper towel rolls work very well.
