colouring

I have a 8 week old male veiled, he is very dark in colour when he is awake, if i hold him, he turns a very pale - apple like green & he is this colour when he is sleeping.

he eats & drinks daily, sits under his basking light & moves around his viv - he seem s very normal & happy.

i keep reading that a darker colour means they are un-happy or stressed - is this the case
or are male veiled darker in colour?

Is he in a TANK by chance? If he is then he is seeing his reflection during the day hence why he would be stressed. This would also explain why he is calm when being held (outside of tank) and sleeping (doesnt see tank). If that isnt it, then I dont know..Im no expert but ther are awesome people on here who can help ya.
