Colours

Can anyone give me some indication into what colours of chameleons mean? I have a male and female veiled that are a nice green colour most of the time but the female sometimes goes a murky brown when I spray them.

Could be agitated by spraying which some Chams love and some Chams
loathe. Could be darkening up to absorb more heat. Like wearing a dark colored shirt in the sun is warmer than a white or light one

Veiled chams and generally others too will do a darky colour (usually murky brown or black) when they are stressed. Are you spraying directly at your female? 'Cause if you are she could be getting stressed from the water. Chameleons also go darker to absorb more heat and light when they bask, but I don't think that's the case here.

This helps. I think it's so she can absorb heat because she hasn't been going brown at all recently since we raised the bulb watts. I was just a bit concerned about her previously when I first got her, thinking she could be ill. Cheers guys, got some great photos of them both clawing onto my face, photo's are a killer! :D

Hopefully tonight when I get back from slavery, sorry, I mean work :p I also have a female bearded dragon and I have to show you the photos of her. We call her the Cricket Queen because she is so lazy and always has a cricket sat on her head. I suppose she prefers greens. :)
