Complete Kit

Hello everyone I am new to the forums and new to chams in general. I am thinking about purchasing a veiled cham from FLChams and I want to make sure I have everything. So just to be safe does this complete kit from FLChams have everything I will need to start out? If not please tell me what else I will need so I don't mess up. I also want to know how the lighting system works for this setup. I've seen setups with a dual bulb fixture but since this doesn't have that would I just change out the bulbs manually? Thanks.

Probably would need more climbing vines and definitely add live plants. Live plants will help with the humidity and hold water droplets better for the cham to drink. Youll also need calcium without D3 as mentioned above.

The lights in this kit are better than the dual bulb fixtures. The dome light will hold you basking bulb. Youll only need to change that out if it burns out or you notice your cage temps getting cooler. The fluorescent fixture will hold your linear UVB bulb which provides a greater area of UVB exposure than the dual bulb fixtures which use a compact bulb. Change the UVB bulb out atleast every 6 months since these bulbs tend to emit less UVB radiation over time even though they are brightly lit.

I'd also recommend investing in a timer for the lights and a misting system. Misting systems are great because you wont have to worry about misting the cage every few hours or having a dehydrated cham because you arent misting enough.

One more thing... Drainage. Youll need to figure out how to collect all the excess water from misting thoughout the day. There is a whole thread in the enclosure section on drainage ideas.

On my cage, I drilled several 1/4" holes on the floor panel for water to drain through into a low storage container. I then set the cage on top of a wire rack and put the collection container on the shelf under the cage. I can then just empty the container into the sink.

I didnt even think about drainage! Thanks for the idea! I'm planning on getting a Schefflera plant for the live plant.

Don't know if this will make sense, but see if you can understand what I am trying to say.

Use this link as a guide. Take each section and address it; what you need, what you will do, etc.
Example: Feeders
How many kinds of feeder will you have? What will you keep them in? What food to feed (bug burger, cricket crack, etc.) besides gutloading? Etc.

Figure out how you will address each section, don't plan on skimping or "adding on later".
Set up your enclosure completely, check your temps, humidity, mist system. Have a vet picked out, start a vet fund. Make sure you have a good understanding of basic husbandry before getting your Cham.

The people on the forum will help any way they can.
Best wishes(y)
