Does anyone know exactly what dangers can be caused by a chameleon injesting fertilized soil? Usually I re pot and cover soil with rocks or screen but I bought a new plant yesterday and didnt cover it right away. And I caught her sshooting her tongue right at the dirt. I finally took care of the soil but now im concerned about how much she could have eaten and what could happen.

When it comes to eating organic soil then the main problem is that too much can cause impaction (blocking the digestive tract, causing constipation). If the soil has fertilisers then it could actually be poisonous. Look out for lethargy and loss of appetite.

Chams are pretty good at spitting out things that dont belong. I have seen them eat the dirt before fertalized and not and been fine. I would offer a bit of extra water and keep a close eye if you are worried.
