Conjunctivitis problems.

Ok,so I think my chameleon Louie has conjunctivitis. He has been having this for a while now and has never really hit 100% recovery. He has seen the vet many times and he is currently on omega 3(for the rest of his life) and with that alternagel(wich is not for the rest of his life). At first the vet took a culture from his eye and found no bacteria on it. For about a month he was doing great and seemed like he would be fine. This weekend his right eye has acted up and sometimes his left eye has also, but it will reopen shortly. His right has it worse though,it has more white crust on the outside and im suspecting on the inside wich is giving him alot of discomfort. Im wondering what could be this cause. And I am currently using newspaper as substrate for the bottom of his terrarium, could this be a problem? And I still have some terramycin and was wondering if i should use and i was wondering what it exactly does?

Cage Type: a terrarium 48x30x16
Lighting: 5.0 reptisun UVB and a 60 watt light bulb for basking.
Temperature: Normal temps are around 80-89 and basking are 90-96
Humidity: The humidity is around 30% and its basically made by misting him and by the plant.
Plants: I have one umbrella plant in there.
Location: The cage is located in my room, its not by and air vents or where drafts are.

Your Chameleon: A blue bar panther ambilobe,he is 1 year and 9 months old, male.
Feeding: His diet consists of crickets,he gets about 10-12 every other day, I am using lettuce to gut load the crickets.
Supplements: I use reptivite and rep cal once a week.
Watering: I have a dripper on the whole day that drips off a leaf. I mist him 2x a day for about 3-5 minutes.
Fecal Description: I dont usually see fresh ones,by the time i see em they are shriveled up. But at times when i do see new ones, they have a whitish end and have some tan in them.
History: Well this eye problem seems to have been goin on for a long time now and it hasnt really stopped.

Try a little more misting to up that humidity some, 30% isn't really acceptable. I'd try to keep it at 40% - 60% humidity at all times. That may help your eye problems a little.

Going back through old posts this has been going on since last June or July. Could there be something in the room irritating him? Do you use strong perfumes, cleaners, air fresheners or anything like that? Is it real dusty? Can you take a picture of him and the cage? Maybe get some silkworms-they really help with hydration and sounds like your guy could use a variety.

Ok, im worried that too much humidity would help bacteria grow and maybe thats what is causing his conjunctivitis. And there are NO fragrances or anything,no spray deodorant or anything,i usually keep the window open. Theres no dust or anything. So should I mist more frequently or just longer? And i do have a humidifier in the room,so ill use that. And really he gets better then he gets worse,it keeps goin up and down,i havent changed anything since hes been good,so i havent changed anything from when he was doing well.

So your saying that humidity will help with conjunctivitis? Im just tryin to get things straight.

Conjunctivitis should be cleansed with a Streptomycin solution. Continue the cleansing 2-3 times a day for 5-6 days. (That is if your chameleon has conjunctivitis)

I recommend taking it back to the vet and ask about this.

Im gonna schedule a vet appointment, and i know hes not dehydrated,he is drinking great, and his eye is still out like normal, just closed.

Its still on the eye turret, but i think its on the inside too rubbing on it and causing him discomfort in his eye.

He has seen the vet many times and he is currently on omega 3(for the rest of his life) and with that alternagel(wich is not for the rest of his life). At first the vet took a culture from his eye and found no bacteria on it.
I believe he has taken it several times with not much avail.

She is correct, i have taken him many times, and no this vet isnt a bad one, its the one jenna from prismchameleons used to use before she moved. Im tryin to get another vet appointment. And I have it more humid in the room, his right eye seemed to do better when I added water to the humidifier. When I take him out of the cage his right seems fine. When hes in it after a while it closes.
