Connect MistKing pump directly to sink?

Code is relative to municipality. Fail closed solenoid valves are safe.

I was assuming the OP was in the USA. The American National Standard is the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). Most cities defer to that, but some cities have more restrictive rules that they add to it.

And I've had two sprinkler valves fail open. One fully, and the other one partial. Had I been draining to a bucket there would have been a problem. So yes, if you set it up this way, figure out your drainage first.

I think a safer way would not use sprinkler parts at all. The fill solenoid in your washing machine is a very reliable device and is rated for indoor use.

Yes if your not connected to a drain use only quality solenoid valves.
Never use sprinkler parts inside your house.

I run an RO off the outside tap with a 35 gallon holding tank and the the pump. If you get the right filter membrane you are golden. This way if there is an flooding it will most likely be outside. This doesn't work quite as well in places that freeze lol

R/O units do waste water, but at least in my case it is not that much, i have been building reverse osmosis systems since 93-94, so i have some experience using them, lol, and my water bill is around 15 dollars a month using a 100 gal R/O, i use the water for my reef tank, for two chameleons, to drink and produce ice and for some house plants i have, you can buy extra nozzles and clean the clogged ones with vinegar if they ever get clean because of the small pin hole they have which will make it tough to clean or just use purified water and never touch your nozzles, its up to you, either way is ok

What is your rejection rate?

I produce around 4 gallons an hour and throw away half of that, my tds coming in from the city is at 714 ppm and my tds on my purified water is around 20 ppm, my rejection rate is 96%, i use a water softener and carbon filter thru out the house too, that helps a lot to keep my R/O running smoothly

Here's how I did mine. https://www.chameleonforums.com/new-garage-misting-system-pictures-130245/ No RO just inline filters. I have not had a single clogged misting head and I'm running about 40 with this set up. I agree you need to have drainage set up, if something fails there could be a lot of water on the loose.

That's a slick setup. Sure beats listening to noisy pumps. I might look into putting together a setup like that. I'll probably use PEX for all the lines though. I'm paranoid about water getting loose, as you can tell. :) Mostly because my business is run adjacent to my cham room and has a lot of inventory that could be ruined by water.
