Cricket hunt or cup?

I plan on having a male Panther soon in a 24x24x48 cage. Should I let the Panther hunt for his crickets or put them in a cup?

I do both. I cup feed when I'm interested in how much they are eating. and if they are eating fine I let them hut so as to let them exercise and promote well being. And then there are times when mine will only hunt so cup feeding is out. I guess to sum it up there are advantages, and disadvantages to both so it's really up to what you, or your cham prefers.

I free range all my feeders. But I place them all in the same area each time. My chameleon knows this and goes to his feeding spot every morning.

If you use crickets, some will jump out so you end up doing both.

Roaches, supers. silks, and horns tend to stay in the bottom of the cup, where crickets climb naturally. The result is without movement the cham will ignore the food. A trick is to put some crickets in the bottom to teach the cham to look into the bottom.
Until they learn, worms are best served on the cup climbing surface, a branch, or on the screen.

CHEERS!

I do a mix of both. I put the cup in and they get out, and she just knows where the cup is and hunts from there.

In the am, all are in the cup. At the end of the day, I find a lot of roaches and crickets throughout the enclosure. Lucky gets to do both, I suppose.

My chameleon wouldn't eat out of the cup and seems to really enjoy the hunt so I put 8 in there and check up on her throughout and whatever she doesn't eat before she goes to sleep goes back in the keeper.
