Crickets?

Hi everyone!

So I have had my chameleon for 3 months now. I was wondering at which point should i start her on crickets? I have been feeding her meal worms so far, and I think she should be eating crickets now, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thank you :)

imo you should be introducing crickets right away the key is the proper size most chams should not be sold to their new home until they are on 1/4" crickets imo
a simple rule of thumb is not to feed a cham a prey item that is larger than the width of the chams mouth.
variety is the key an the spice of life

You can feed them from the start the meal worms r not the best thing it is OK one in a way but not as main feeder

I know they are small but my guy whose almost 4 months still enjoys eating them can get a fruit fly culture to add some variety

how old is your cham and what species is it? If you've had it for 3 months already I'm going to assume its at least 5-6 months old already. Besides the obvious pygmy chameleons and a few other smaller species, most chams should be able to eat at least 1/8th inch crickets by then, if not bigger.

Try to feed him other worms like pheonix worms, silkworms and hornworms. Only feed him mealworms on occasion. Their hard shells are hard to digest and can easily cause impaction.

Start yesterday? Why aren't you feeding them now?
Meal worms aren't that great, I would suggest using them occasionally instead of as a staple.
