Cross country trip

Has anyone ever attempted this with chameleons in a U-Haul truck? I am considering a move in the next couple months, and would like to hear how others did it before I commit. I know a lot of people have their animals shipped to them when they get to where they are going, but I don't have anyone I trust to care for my animals for an 8 day trip, let alone ship them to me.

Any thoughts on heat/lights? I can manage water.

I have done it with other reps in the summer months from NY to CA. It was not too much of a problem. I actually had to worry about overheating.

In the colder months, maybe try heat packs? I do have an outlet that is a plug on one end that powers from my car lighter on the other end. This could get you regular electricity, but the cham would need to be in the car/truck with you.

I think shipping might be a good option. Have you considered leaving your cham(s) with someone you trust in Oregon (where you are now). Have them watch your cham(s) until you make the move and have them ship to you after you are there or possibly using forums to find experienced people in the area you plan to move to? Just some thoughts.

How long are you driving per day? It may be an option to park while you sleep, then plug in the lights with a couple high watt rated cords. Have them on a reversed day night schedule.
