Damaged tale?

About 10 days ago I noticed my chameleon's tale was a glossy color (perhaps blood?). I assume this was because his coloration was dark at the time, but I noticed on both sides of his tale there was this very odd looking shine. My only guess is that it was an injury or a fall he took inside his enclosure. Unfortunately, I do not have photos of my first sighting, but I have been monitoring his tale closely, and it is now turning a dry, white'ish color. Does anyone know what this can be?

Have you seen any injuries or cuts on your chameleon that have healed in a similar manner?

Is this something else I should be concerned about?

Please note, the "injury" is on both sides of his tale, in almost the same length. It has not spread and has remained the same size and in the same location.

Thanks so much for any help or information.

I would wonder if these are patches of unshed skin, but the photos are not very detailed. Adult chams often don't shed completely every time. What happens if you spray the area with a little water and rub it with your fingers or a cloth?

I know it's not a shed since it was about 2.5 months ago, he may shed soon. But I know this is not a shed because of how unusual it looked at first, my hunch is that it was a wound. I'm just hoping it's not a virus or disease of some sort?
