decided to go HD with the cage

Had some leftover acrylic plexiglass from an old auto project so I decided to mount it to our cage door. I just cut it to spec and used my dremel to cut out for the hinges. There's 20 screws securing it to the door (well only 16 right now--have to buy some more screws). It's a 24x16x30 cage. I would love to do this to a large 48" tall cage, but I think it would weigh too much for the aluminum screen frame. It's pretty heavy with this little cage but the frame and hinges are holding up just fine. Our cham doesn't mind it and and the view is like upgrading from analog tv to 1080p resolution. Just thought I'd share.

Can't really tell by the pic how they secured the plexiglass. I'm not sure how thick mine is, but you could find plexiglass @ home depot or lowes and you don't really need it to be too thick as long as you secure it tight and flat.. measure and double triple measure before you cut the plexiglass. I used a dremel on it's highest rpm to drill the holes very slowly on the acrylic,, this way you're melting the hole instead of a slow drill/screw gun that cuts, grabs and possibly cracks the acrylic. I used #4x 1/2 screw with #6 washers to spread the clamp force-- (couldn't find any #4 washers but you could probably find some if you looked hard enough,, #6 washers work just as well).

Note: make sure your frame is perfectly square (90% and straight aluminum frame pieces),, again,, measure.. I'm sure this could get expensive or wasteful for people who don't measure properly...
