Diet of Veiled Chameleon-help please

I feed my veiled chameleon about 7 crickets twice a day (he/she is about 3 months old) and every once and a while a couple meal worms. Should I introduce dubias to Iggy's diet? I'm not sure my parents would enjoy breeding mini-cockroaches... But does Iggy need more variety in his/her diet?

Yes Iggy does.

You should be letting him eat as much as he can twice a day for right now.

So if he will eat more, let him.

You can offer all bugs so long as they are the right size.

Also, if you post a photo of your chams back feet, we can tell you the gender.

One nice thing about veileds is that you can increase variety by adding a salad of leafy greens into his diet.

Shred/chop them up to the consistancy of coleslaw and put in a bowl, add your crickets/superworms to the bowl so they will crawl through the salad. When the chameleon shoots the bugs it will pick up a few bits of salad accidentally, or perhaps when things are crawling in the salad and a bit of it moves it will shoot the moving greens and eat them that way. After a while (several weeks) the chameleon will eat the salad on purpose- even when there are no insects present. It is a great way to "gutload" your pet directly.

Thank you so much for all of your help! :) So Iggy should be eating crickets, superworms, coleslaw/salad, and is there anything else?

Hope the pictures aren't too blury...

coleslaw salad- not really coleslaw, just that consistancy to start with. It's a good idea to check iguana salad ideas on the net. You don't want too much cabbage for example.

The more variety the better though. Your local petshop might have a few more items such as butterworms...

Loki my male veiled has been eating a variety of bugs since about 3 months old. He started off with just crickets, then I gave him a wax worm now and then...baby roaches he loves....silkworms, a superworm now and then. He is terrified of hornworms lol. Wont go near them...I put greens and veggies/fruit in his terrarium but so far he wont touch any of it...more often then not he prefers to "accidently" knock it over so it all falls to the plants below lol...but I keep putting more in hehe....

Good luck with your baby :)

Here is another picture of Iggy.... can anyone tell if Iggy is a boy or a girl?

Is he/she too young to tell?

:D I think that Iggy is a little lady...to be 100% sure try to get a clear shot of just the back of her feet. Like a straight on shot so we can see clearly if she has spurs or not....from the photos you have posted I don't see any which leads me to believe she is a she....

Here is another picture, sorry it took so long I couldn't find Iggy and then my computer started to act up....

Iggy looks like a girl to me!

i see no spur on the feet, and the shape of the casque lends towards female.
this means you need to bone up on egg laying, as they can and will lay eggs without a male around.

Thanks for helping me! (Now I just need to get my parents and sister to break the habit of calling Iggy 'him' or 'he'). :D
I've had a box of moist sand (about 6 inches tall, 10 inches long, and 8 inches wide) in the back of the cage because we weren't sure of Iggy's gender or age when we first got her... Is there anything specific I should look out for or be careful about now that I know she is a girl?

Yes, First, your lay bin isnt big enough.

Females like at least a 12in deep 12in wide bucket to dig in.

Other than that, you may not even know she has eggs until shes digging. SOme females change color when gravid, others dont.

Ive found they really only change colors (For me) when they are gravid with fertile eggs.
