Disappointing Daytona Show

Since I live here, I make sure to get to this show every year. For Cham lovers, this show was a downer. 80% snakes, 10% turtles, 5% bearded dragons, and 5% everything else including supplies. Selection of chams was weak, and what there was was overpriced.

Any suggestions for other Central FL shows that any of you have attended?

That is pretty typical for the cham world. I for one was a little happy to see there were not tons of WC chams. Prices were pretty average. One vendor had Veileds for $20. Panthers are always pricey.
Repticon is pretty much the same thing-same vendors.

I got my first Cham from there on Saturday a Veiled for 29.00

Im happy^^

I hate snakes tho and they were EVERYWHERE!

I know what you mean about the snakes :/
My herp society is comprised of
99% snakes
.99% gekos
.01% chameleons (me LOL)

Haha, its nearly the same in Hamm. But in Hamm, the real stuff is under the tables ;) Id like to see a reptile fair without Pogonas, leopard geckos, all this designer f+#k with lost colors, those poor WC animals offered under 20$ and last but not least boring snakes. That would be a great fair !

The symposium was excellent and I thought the show had about the same amount of chams as they normally do. The Daytona show is by far the best show in FL.

I didn't make it out this year but last year i did and there were a decent amount of chameleons BUT some were WC. I hope there were less WC this year. I hope to go next year and am waiting for Repticon.com to announce when the Repticon in Miami will be.

I really enjoyed the symposium, and while there werent too many chams there was a good amount, and while some were overpriced there were some great deals.

I was there today and was a bit disappointed. I was expecting to see more chams. I did manage to pick up an 8 week BB x RB Ambilobe baby for 79.99, though. :)

I also won a free poster from the Petsmart table as well as a coupon for a dozen free crickets and $5 off any reptile product of $10 or more. I also picked up two free boxes of medium sized superworms from Timberline which was really great. Overall I had a good time.

Off the top of my head. I saw, RB/BB Ambilobe, Nosy Be, Veiled and translucent veiled, Jackson's, Fischer's, Flapneck, Sambava, Graceful, and Ambanja. That's what I can remember, anyway. Didn't see any pygmies for sale today.

the one we had here i Memphis few months ago had exactly ZERO chams... i was quite disappointed to say the least.. it was my first show, just prior to me getting my first chameleon and i was really looking forward to checking them all out in person....

Yes, that is how it goes in my state too. Basically zero chams at the Columbus, Oh. show unless I bring some, lol!!! Every once in a while there will be another chameleon person there but rarely. So I must hit the show in FL next year, just to check it out! Laurie invited me to go with her this year, but I couldn't arrange it. I went to one in vegas last year and it was Excellent!!!

Wow that's quite a small selection for such a big expo! The petstore i like in Quebec city has more chameleons than your whole expo! @@ However, you guys had some great readers, so it's not that bad! ;)

not to say that i didn't enjoy seeing all of the other reptiles, but i was mainly looking to see some chams... :)

Yea, it was bigger last year. FL Chams was there last year, and other breeers, so there were more. Which was great, because I wanted to get my first cham at that show, and I had plenty to choose from.

I was also really surprised by one breeder at Daytona that had Ambilobe and Nosy females all in one cage, as if anyone can tell which is which. That struck me.

But I finally picked up my shirts from Julie at Chamo Wear so I was estatic :D
