I'm starting the planning process for doing a custom built cage for Kronin as he is quickly outgrowing his baby cage (18x18x...30?) and I had a few questions. First off, the area I have to build in is 3' wide and 7-8' high (whatever standard residential ceiling height is). I'm thinking about including a shelving unit in the build for holding water reservoir, feeder bins and such. However, to do this I'd only be able to make the cage 2-2.5' wide and deep. Would that be wide enough for a full grown panther? Also, I know you can get weather proof deck stain for treating the wood but that usually comes in gallon size tubs. Is there an interior wood stain that would protect the wood from the moisture?

The basic adult male panther cage size is 2X2X4' in size so what ever you can go beyond that would be icing on the cake for your chameleon.

I guess what I'm wondering is because they like to climb do you think he'd be more impressed with extra height vs lateral area?
