I'm in the process of a new vivarium for our new Panther, Napoleon.
The vivarium will be made of walnut hardwood and walnut veneered MDF.
The top side and bottom and bottom screens will use UltraVue screens which provide better airflow.
The front door will have 1/8" low iron glass which has similar clarity properties as acrylic but is far more scratch resistant. I also evaluated P99 anti-reflective acrylic, but it proved to be too "hazy".
As for the bottom it will be a screen over a drainage system (not pictured here). As far as that goes I'm planning on building a pvc tray that has a slight grade which empties into a 5 gallon container.
I haven't decided whether to use some white PVC sheeting for the back or to use the walnut. I like the water-resistance and brightness of the PVC but am concerned about the aesthetics. What do you guys think??
A big shout out to Todd at lightyourreptiles.com who will be supplying the lighting for the build. He has been incredibly helpful consulting on the lighting setup.
I've opted to use the following rig:
I would love your guys' feedback!
