Do chameleons only curl their tales when they are sleeping?

I just came home from getting a timer for my lamps and I noticed that Larry was on a leaf stem with his tail curled. I don't think he was sleeping but he could have heard and then seen me walk in. He hasn't done this before (not that I have seen at least) but he always curls his tail when he is sleeping. I would hate to think that he is sleeping at 12 in the afternoon because if I understand correctly, that usually means that something isn't quite right with him.

Whatever it's worth, he ate some crickets this morning and did a fine job chasing them down. He hasn't been lethargic either and I saw him drink earlier. His eyes don't look sunken in either.

I've peeked in on him a number of times and his eyes are wide open and checkin everything out.

Peanut curls her tail when she realises i have suddenly appeared... to feed or spray her

I thought it was a protection sort of reflex to keep the tail safe, hehe

One thing I have read is that some males upon intimidation from other males or animals will curl their tails and flick them out.

Yep, relaxed, angry/showing off, and sleeping. It's funny when they flick their tails back and forth, and even better if they have lobes to flap.
