Do chameleons swim?

Hello I saw a video of a chameleon swimming on YouTube should chameleons be bathed or put in a bath to soak. I thought chameleons drowned because they can't see stll water. It looked like the chameleon was in some distress

Is it that video of those guys in Africa jumping into the river?? That poor little guy looked like he was walking on water! You can give chameleons a warm-water shower, which is just setting their plant in there to sit on, and letting the warm water bounce off of the shower wall and gently onto them. That kind of bathing is good for them once in awhile, but no Michael Phelps chameleons... They don't like it :)

Although there's nothing like a 15-20 minute warm water soaking to clear up any constipation issues though. They don't like it much at first but they will settle down and soak in an inch of warm water (for a full grown chameleon), and it just about always works to get them to poop if a warm shower didn't do the trick.

So yea, they can "swim" if they have to, but it's not something they seem to do for fun lol.

Don't mean to make anyone one mad but I think any animal was made with the ability to swim. I am not saying to make your Cham a swimming pool with a diving board in your cage :D but in nature I am sure its ok.

I could list a number of animals that cannot swim. I'm not counting an animal that just falls in the water for a few seconds and hops out since nearly any animal can do that. However there are many that simply nature did not intend to be treading water. Even humans without some form of learning experience can and do drown.

As for chams, I shall not say more other than I have been keeping Chams for three decades and once a very very very long time ago I knew a young boy who thought chams could swim like an iguana. He was wrong and never forgot it.

Use the shower method if you need the cham nice and wet. You won't stress the crap out of it either.
