Do you dust every insect?

Do you dust every insect your about to feed your cham? Not sure if all are supposed to be dusted or just a few? I'm getting my baby veiled tomorrow He's about 2 mo's old. I know to do the d3 and vit 2 x per month - but again all the insects that day or just a couple-few? Thanks everybody!

Personally I put feeders in a container add a little powder and swirl them around. So yes all of mine have a very light coating.

I find it easier to use a solid container as well (ie solo cup vs plastic bag) for most feedings.sometimes I'll skip one every blue moon.

Your feeders should only have a light coating of dust on them. Like a light grey. If they look like ghosts you've put on too much

As important as dusting is, don't forget to use quality gutload. If you're not sure what that is or how to do it, feel free to ask! Enjoy your new chameleon!

Put them in a cup dust and shake, every feeder even super worms!!!

Oh ya - I've got the rep cal shaker - rep cal with d3, rep cal w/o d3 and the rep cal herpivit. Bug burger is the gut load and I have an ample supply of fresh kelp - which I plan on blending some up and freezing in cubes this weekend before the weather turns and frosts it all. NW Oregon has had some beautiful fall days lately, but it's starting to get cold in the mornings! Hope my little guy ships o.k.!

I don't - the crickets I do because they have such a horrible calhos ratio, but I do not dust all the roaches or superworms, and things like hornworms, silkworms, grasshoppers, mantids, moths, etc. do not get dusted at all. It depends how well the bugs are eating, as well, and whether I am feeding growing babies or laying females.

For babies I dust with cal no D3 on crickets most days. I probably skip 2 days a week. I rarely dust any other feeder unless that's is the only feeder they are getting that day and it's time for some minerall/d3/Reptivite

That being said, I use 3+ feeders and gut load everything with fresh veggies

No, I dont dust every insect - some types of bugs do not need to be dusted with any supplementation, especially if you are gutloading properly. You can see detailed info on how I feed my chameleons, including supplements, here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/food-diary/

Also the D3 / vitamins twice per month thing is just a general guide, not a strict schedule. You want to think about the type of prey being offered, how it is fed, and consider also the brand of supplements being used.

When I had a baby veiled cham (about the same age that you're getting) I did Calcium W/O D3 at every feeding, and every Friday I would alternate Calcium w/D3 and Multivitamin.

Everyone has their own preferences, trying to see what works for their cham

Currently I give my Jackson's two days Calcium w/o D3 and do every other friday calcium w/d3 and multivitamin.
