Do you have to remove the hornworms horn?

haha im sorry really funnny.

No, you dont have to remove the horn.

and i let them roam the cage, but mainly use them to hand feed.

however, i would rmeove it at night, just in case.

Have you ever heard of one of these injuring a cham?? The problem I am having is that my cage is so large that I can not let any thing loose in the cage because I will not be able to find it to remove it at night.... Don't know what to do.. Also... Please look at my cricket post.

never heard of them causing injury. and they move slow, they dont go very far, and most chams will gobble them quickly.

and ive left them in the cage over onight and no worries.

and wherex your cricket post?

edit- same thing with silkies

I'll just post it here... I know you can't leave black crickets in the cage.. can I leave brown crickets in the cage?

i wouldnt leav any crickest in the cage. while blacks are more aggressive. i wouldnt risk a brown one.

The big hornworms have eagle talon like grip and I've seen my cham playing tug of war just to get it to come off a branch. I personally prefer to just hand feed them. The horns seem soft and I leave it alone. I have read on Mulberry Farms' site caresheet that the big ones can bite and some people cut their mouths off with nail clippers before feeding them off. I don't do this though.

No you don't have to remove the horn in the back , that horn is actually soft and they just use it to intimidate predators however when the hornedworms reach adult hood they develop so sort of "teeth" (not really teeth that kind of hurts when they bite. So what I do is actually I grab tweezers and just bend their teeth when I think it's not safe.

when a hornworm reaches adulthood, hes almost 4 inches long, nothing but the big chams can eat them.

and with the sticky feet vice grip problem. I just dust the feet with my repashy.. then wait for them to get eaten. :)
