Hi guys,

I was out of town for 5 days and when I came home my veiled was showing off with his new colours. I hope you can see the orange spots on his body! And those orange spots made me think: he is might be a she????
Everybody here on the forum said so far he is a male, but now I'm confused. He has a bump on his back feet.

Thanks!

can't get a real good look, but from the third picture I would say he is still A he. And I think the colors in pic 5 show more male coloration that female. females are normally green with gold, and bluish green dots, and they become real dominate when they become gravid and the green is much darker. Now the veil does look a little small, but I think he just hasn't grown into it yet. But I will admit I'm not 100% sure just 99.9%:)

If you don't believe he's a male, look for the metatarsal spur, it is on the back
of both the back feet between where the bundled toes separate. Females don't
have them.

He has bumps on his back feet, you can see it on the 5th pic. I was told it doesn't have to be a huge spur...

Thats how my male was when slowly transitioning into his adult colors. He got more colorful with each shedding.

It looks like a girl to me the coloring and I really don't see the spurs....? here are some pictures of my guy fired up and two showing his spur

She/he is about 6 months old.
I think I should just finally come into terms with the fact that my boy is a girl....

At 6 months my boy had a lot more colors even when he is not fired up. This is a picture of my girls foot.

On the fifth picture you can see the bump, but the coloration right now seems girlish to me too...

I feel for you - Sherlock had 3 little horns when he was small but they never grew - She still has 3 really little horns-
When I bought Clifford there was no check box for female - but I've been told Clifford is female too-
At least with Sherley I don't have to worry about the laying box- her being a Jackson and all -
Clifford's lack of growing bulge is more distressing as it's holding me up on cage upgrades -

I read recently that Sherlock is Sherley. :) I wanted male, but I love her sooo much I couldn't give her to anyone. But yes, laying eggs wasn't in my plans...

Better pics:)

If I could see him myself to make sure that it is actually bumps I'm seeing instead of wrinkles. Then I could be certain. However I see more male coloration in the last pic in the series of 5 you took that look male to me see the v shaped striping, and the striping on the tail. And in that same row of pic's the third, and the fifth one down I pretty sure it has the bumps only males display. So I would be real surprised if he isn't a he. Get a real clear shot of the backside of his foot while he isn't holding on to a branch, even if you have to hold it for the picture. Then we can be certain. But for right now I would say you will be waiting a long time for those eggs.

Are you sure he is 5 months old? or is that what someone told you. He doesn't look 5 months to me they are almost full grown at that age. From looking at your pic I would have guessed a little over 3 months. They reach sexual maturity at 6 months. And if he/she is indeed 5 months old then I would have to change my mind and say it is a female. At 5 months the coloration should have already taken place. But if true she would be the smallest 5 month old veiled chameleon I've seen.

Is she/he small?
Must be at least 5 months old, because I have him/ her from the 7th November. :) And he/she was about 3" long+the tail.
Bit I thought they can grow until they are 1- 1,5 years old?!

Yah I'm pretty sure reptiles grow their whole life. But it's been my experience veiled's do the majority of it in the first 6 months of life. I would also say 3" from head to the end tail is small for a veiled Chameleon of 5 months. If it is over 5 months old I would think it should be showing it's adult colors by now, and if so it would indeed be female. But on the other hand if you are sure there are bumps on the back of his/her feet it can only be male. If I could get that unimpeded pic of his/her foot I could be more certain.
