Does Anyone Feed Lobster Roaches ?

I had them for a bit and hated them. They make a really horrible defensive odor and they CAN infest a house. I am lucky enough to have kept tight security and prevented this- don't risk any escapees. They will live for MONTHS without food and without being seen. They are also fast and will jump.

Thanks i no this already :) i put a 4-5 mm layer of Vaseline round the top this stops them getting out as well as the lid does :)

I 2nd EVERYTHING Kenya said. They are nasty little roaches. I know people who have "roached" themselves here in MI. I dont care what anyone says, they EASILY SURVIVE a Michigan Winter, no food for months, 5 inches of water in their enclosure....they just WONT DIE!!

Vaseline is NOT fail-safe. In one week, Vaseline not only hardens, it collects dust. Hope your lid is tight. The only thing I found that works for Lobsters is the Polymer Bug Guard paint.

The only way I prevented lobster roaches from escaping into my home is by giving them to my brother...hehe.

Easy to breed, good to feed. BUT, they (Like snakes...hehe)WILL eventually escape.

And they will not simply "die" like dubia. Nor will they decide it's too cold to breed, like dubia.

Here's what did it for me. I had a sickly deremensis thta I wanted to feed. He hated everythign but roaches. But, I had to go to work. I was uneasy about leaving roaches in their cages (which were not sealed cages, but more like stalls).

So, I took a smooth sided plastic container, rubbed vaseline around the top inside edges, and took one nice, juicy one out. I hobbled it, much like what happened on Misery. I toom my tweezers and pinched the legs at the "knees" - all six of the legs - at the main leg joint. All it could do was scurry around on the bottom of the container.

He ate the roach - cause it was gone when I returned home.

Next week, I move the rabbit's cage to clean it, and under the blanket (which was under the cage) is the proud MOTHER roach and all twelve of her babies. And she TRIED to scurry away on her little stub-legs.

I killed all 13 of them, and promptly gave the colony to Joey.

Dubia are just as easy to breed, get bigger, live long, won't innundate, don't smell and can barely climb the sid eof a screen cage, let alone smooth plastic or glass.

ive heard people say that if the world gets nuked everywhere, everything will die... except roaches

i wonder if those people were talking about lobster roaches?

Yes. Yes they were. They must have been either entomologists or hobby chameleon keepers.
