Does it look like he’s too hot?

It’s been getting colder during the day (I live in Southern California so “cold” means my house is about 65-68 degrees), so I thought my panther might be cold.

I previously had a 75W Zilla Day Light White basking bulb. With that, the basking branch got about 78 degrees and the chameleon’s body temp was like 82 (measured with heat gun).

I’ve since replaced it with a 100W bulb and now the basking branch is 90 degrees or so and the chameleon’s body temp is 98-100+.

Based on his colors and how he’s basking, does it look like he’s too hot now?

I believe he is over heating with his light colors. Turn it back down. When my guys are outside and start to lighten up they’re too hot. They go for cover.

Also are the black spots new? If so those could be a burn.

I keep my panther basking temp around 82-85.

The black spots aren’t new, he’s had them forever and I think they’re a discoloration from the breeder. Thanks for the note about overheating! Will turn it back down.
