Dog Food/ Fish Flakes as a gutload?

My book on leopard geckos said to use this as a good gutload but i have never heard of anyone use these things. Would they make a good Gutload?

NO! never use these. they are high in protein that are not good for chams.

I use fish flakes as a gut load occasionally. However you have got to be careful not to use Fish Flakes to much as they can provide to much vitamin A which causes problems. There is actually a good thread about on these forums this I would recommend searching for.

occassional use wont hurt, but frequent use can lead to gout and excessive preformed vitmain A and D etc

I have been using fish flakes conservatively for some of my feeder insects and had a positive response with growth rates and breeding. If using these a an insect feed you just have got to be careful not to be over done as there could be some nutritional problems for you chameleons. You could use fish flakes as an insect feed and not as a gut load (just before feeding).
