I should have known , there was an old solid wooden gate behind the barn , it was laying flat, both dogs were scratching at it, I wanted to stand it back up, as soon as I started to lift it, both dogs ( Bud and Toby ) rushed under - all I saw was a flash of black, white and yellow lab - each had it by the head, and butt - yep , you guessed it - P U !!! the worst part, they all came at me in a big spinning circle of dust, fur and STINK ! so , the skunk walked off like "HA, do it again" ( he was un harmed) - both dogs rolling, stinking, yelping - even I got some " skunk" on me so its shaving cream baths for all - YES, SHAVING CREAM - it took 100 % of the stink off the dogs - I never knew this, an old farmer said to use it- it worked Toby slept in Emily's bed that night, you could not even tell they had been hit by a skunk
you just put it on the dog/s - let it sit for 15, and wash it off - we have had many dogs over the yrs hit by skunks- this is by far the best thing ever !! just thought I'd pass this info along for anyone who needs it - hope ya never do
