Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
Im pretty new to the concept of drainage pans, i somehow managed to completely overlook them when i was learning how to take care of chameleons a few years ago, even though i researched relentlessly... but thats besides the point.
I have a genaric-ish screen chameleon cage, i think its 4 ft tall and 2 ft wide (its been a while since ive had it out. I dont currently have chameleons). And i plan to get a mist king system.
A drainage system like this:
Would be a dream, if i did builded this i would like to make the water run through a tube into a bucket. Its possible imight end up getting one like the one below as well.
This is alright but not desireable, this one begs the question of how to handle the floor of my cage. The floor of my cage is just a flat 1-2 cm thick piece of removable plastic, its open under that. Shoulds i just poke holes in my plastic? Or leave it and just get a pan that will be big enough that theres room for water to run over the side and into the pan?
Doing something like this is last resort:
And hight undesirable, as it gives bugs a fantastic place to hide, and will make it difficult to clean as ill have to pick up a potentially wet flower pot and set it down somewhere. And i dont even need to go into about how i dont want my cham having access to his very own sewer water. Lol.
Whatever i do, its top priority that its cricket proof. Any tips appriciated.
